Victorian Disability Advocacy Network
The vision of Victorian Disability Advocacy Network (VDAN) is to be an active participant in the creation of a fully inclusive society in which people who have a disability are included as equally valued and contributing citizens.
The network aims to strengthen and promote an effective network for the advocacy movement, to defend good advocacy and to promote good advocacy and the rights and needs of people with a disability.
It is a coalition of independent, community based organisations that advocate with and for people with any kind of disability.
VicRAN hosted the National Disability Advocacy Conference for the first time in July 2007. You can find conference details and resolutions on the VDAN (opens in a new browser window) website.
Grampians Access and Advocacy Network
The Grampians Access and Advocacy Network (GAAN) is committed to peer support, knowledge sharing and confidentiality for people working in the advocacy sector in the Grampians region. The network aims to provide a practical forum to raise, promote and further social and community issues that affect people with a disability. It also promotes partnerships between advocacy, RuralAccess, Department of Human Services, Access for All Abilities and DeafAccess. Meetings are held quarterly at rotating venues throughout the region.
The GAAN model is now being adopted by other regions, following a statewide RuralAccess and Advocacy conference in May 2005 where the model was presented as an example of good practice.
